THRESS , DONALD FREDERICK " FRED ", SR. age 83, passed away Thursday October 4, 2012 at a local healthcare facility. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City, Past Master of The Bright Hope Lodge of Fountain City, a 32nd degree Mason and a lifetime member of Kerbela Temple. Mr. Thress was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and was an employee at Rohm and Haas for 30 years. He was born and raised in Knoxville, TN and also lived in Yuma, Arizona. He was preceded in death by: Father, Clarence Thress ; Mother, Helen Thress ; brothers Jack Thress , and Clarence Thress . He is survived by: Wife of 64 years, Carolyn Thress ; son and daughter-in-law, Don Thress and Margaret Thress , both of Knoxville; grandsons, Rob Thress and John Thress both of Knoxville; Brothers, Thomas Thress of Knoxville and Robert Thress of Morristown. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Central Baptist Church of Fountain City 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with services immediately following with Dr. Mike Smith officiating. Graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery Monday October 8, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.. with the Rev. Ron Mouser officiating. In Lieu of flowers family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer's research charities. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
