Guthrie Lee "Gus" Ownby 63 of Quinton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 15, 2004. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, June Ownby; three daughters, Sarah Ownby, Valerie Long and Crystal Small; one son, David Ownby; two sons-in-law, Steve Long and Wade Small; eight grandchildren, Christina Ayers, David Ownby Jr., Stephen Long Jr., Logan Ownby, Ashley and Amanda Long, Alexis and William Small Jr.; one brother, Shirl Ownby; three sisters, Margie Simon, Joyce Donner and Maxine Cable, and other family members. Mr. Ownby was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Sarah Ownby; four sisters, Ruth, Betty-Ann, Cecil and Muriel; and one grandson, Christopher Ayers. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave, where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and where services will be held 11 a.m. Monday.
