Murder suspect sought
SEVIERVILLE - Police are searching for a man of interest in the death of a Kodak man.
Sevierville police were called to Cedar Hills Drive at about 12:35 a.m. Wednesday, after callers told emergency dispatchers they heard a gunshot in the area. Officers found 30-year-old Robert E. Overton, of Kodak, beside a mobile home at 617 Cedar Hills Drive. Public Information Officer Bob Stahlke said Overton had a "signficant" head injury; he was pronounced dead at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center.
Autopsy results were not released Wednesday, and Stahlke said he could not comment on the cause of death.
Police are searching for Jorge Garbiel Maertinez, 28, who they describe as a person of interest in the case.
"He's someone we hope can help put together what happened," Stahlke said.
Stahlke declined to say who lived at the Cedar Hills residence.
Martinez is described as a Latino male with black hair, a clean shaven face, standing no taller than 5 feet 5 inches tall.
Police ask that anyone with information on Martinez's whereabouts call Lt. Detective Same Hinson at 453-5506. Police cautioned the public not to approach Martinez.
