Mrs. Betty Jo Black Smith, age 69, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011, at her home.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband Riley Smith, parents Dillard and Elizabeth Campbell Black, brothers Talmadge Black, Kenneth Black, and Hebe Black, and sisters Mary Grace Ford, Bertie Stillwell, and Bernice McCarter.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Imogene Rathbone, son Dustin Smith, all of Newport; grandchildren Andrea Rathbone, Verdie Rathbone, Karrie Smith, and Dustin Smith, Jr., all of Newport; great-grandchildren Taylor Rathbone, Brittany Rathbone, Kylee Sanderland, Tiffany Evans, and Joshua Rathbone; sister Ruby Huska of New Jersey, and brother Dee Black of Denton.
Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews, including special niece Ann Shelton Costner of Newport.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Manson Lee officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the services.
The family would like to extend a special 'Thank You' to Carl Hanor and also UT Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to help with final expenses.
