Charles (Charlie) Ray Suggs, age 54, of Newport, died Friday, September 24, 1999, at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. He was of the Baptist faith and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a veteran of the United States Army and he loved to work in his flowers. He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Suggs; brother, Don Suggs; and sister-in-law, Leta Suggs. He is survived by his mother, Lillie Mae Suggs, of Newport; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (J.A.) and Dorothy Suggs, of Newport, O.L. and Annette Suggs, of Newport, Bill and Betty Suggs, of Newport, and Frank and Dottie Suggs, of Parrottsville; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Phillip Hawk, of Parrottsville; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Suggs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Manes Funeral Home.
