Riffey, Jack Eugene – age 72 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, after a long battle with Alzheimers. Born June 14, 1935 to Dallas and Christine Riffey, he was an active member of Cedar Ford Baptist Church and retired from Rohm & Haas with 30 years of service. Preceded in death by father, Dallas, Sr.; sister, Flo Etta Leadbetter; and brother, Dallas, Jr. Survived by wife of 52 years, Virginia Thomas Riffey; sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Linda of Luttrell, Michael and Vickie Joyce of Maynardville, Douglas and Suzanne of Strawberry Plains; granddaughters, Holly Smith, Tallitha, Celia, and Olivia Riffey; grandsons, Brian and Kevin Riffey; great grandchildren, Kelsey and Bryson Smith; mother, Christina Riffey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion McClain, Frances Stalsworth, Ruth and Ronnie Moore, Hazel and Don Bennett, Edna and Jerry Newman, Ruby and John Hitch; sister-in-law, Jessie Riffey; special friends, Gibb Hacker, Tom Hale, Larry Bryson, Chico Fernandez, and Larry Leffler. A special thank you to our pastors Dick Baumgardner and Jeff Leach for their dedication to our family, Dr. Udit Chaudhuri for all of the loving medical care given through the years, and to Morgan Woolard for her sweet smiles to Papaw Jack. Funeral services will be 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. A.R. Baumgardner and Rev. Jeff Leach officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 AM Thursday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 AM committal service. Pallbearers: Russell, Michael, Douglas, Brian, and Kevin Riffey, and nephew, Scott Scruggs. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 523-4999.
