CRENSHAW, A.D. (DOUG) - age 76, of Clinton, entered into the presence of the Lord on December 10, 2008. Doug, son of A.D. and Mabel Crenshaw, was born on November 2, 1932 at the family home on Main Street. He grew up in Clinton where he was a member of the first marching band at Clinton High School. He later graduated from Baylor School in Chattanooga. Doug was especially proud of having served as manager of the basketball team at the University of Tennessee, where he received his degree. He remained a life long Tennessee Volunteers fan. He married Claudette Laws in 1953. Doug worked for a number of businesses in the field of human resources. After retirement, he lived in Georgia and Florida, returning to live in Anderson County in 2006. Faith was a central component in his life, and he served with conviction in the churches that he attended. His family meant everything to him. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Denise Crenshaw-Smith and Allen Smith, David and Kathy Crenshaw, Mabel and Allen Halcomb, and Dr. Melinda Crenshaw; six grandchildren, Meghan and Anna Smith, Carrie Crenshaw, Katy and Casey Kelley, Katelyn and Aaron Comer and Olivia Halcomb; as well as three great-grandchildren, Payton Harrison, Ashlyne Kelley and Addalyn Comer (born on December 10, 2008). He is also survived by his sisters and brother and their spouses, Mabel Crenshaw Goehe, Ann and Ronald Blanton, and John and Patti Crenshaw; one sister-in-law and her husband, Marilyn and Web Stickney; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Clinton, Monday, December 15, 2008 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00p.m. Interment will be held afterward at Sunset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 252 Main Street, Clinton, Tennessee 37716. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements.
