She was a member of Emmanuel Nazarene Church. Preceded in death by husband, Virgil Purkey. Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Harold E. and Lynda Purkey of Friendsville; daughters, Joyce Purkey of Friendsville and Karen Brendle of Friendsville; grandchildren, Nick Purkey, Mike Purkey, and Matthew Brendle; sisters, Bessie Norman of Heiskell, TN and Sarah Martin of Pine Bluff, AK; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Elizabeth Davis of Friendsville. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a friend to all. Funeral service 8:00 PM Monday, June 26, 2006 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Hillard Watkins officiating. Interment 11:00 AM Tuesday at Shady Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville. (www.millerfuneralhome.org)
