YOUNG, FLORIDE PARKER - age 89 of Louisville, TN, formerly of Knoxville, TN died peacefully surrounded by her family on May 30, 2011. Floride graduated from Knoxville High School in the class of 1939A as an honor student and member of the National Honor Society. She attended the University of Tennessee where she joined Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She was a member of Lake Forest Presbyterian Church. Floride was active in various organizations throughout her life including Akima Club of Knoxville, Ossoli Circle, the Exchangettes, Knoxville Executives Club, P.E.O., and the Lakemoor Hills Garden Club where she served as President for three different terms and was awarded for service and dedication with a State Life Membership. Her friends were very important to her and she was involved in many bridge clubs which was one of her favorite activities. Floride was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Woodson L. Young; parents, Floride and James Curtis Parker, Sr.; brothers, James Curtis Parker, Jr. and Wyatt M. Parker. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Young Dison and Stephen Dison of Louisville, TN and Ann Curtis Young Harmon and Tony Harmon of Knoxville, TN; grandsons, Lanny Harmon of Phoenix, AZ and Brent Harmon of Oak Park, CA. She is also survived by great grandson, Brady Harmon of Phoenix, AZ. Floride is also survived by 3 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren who affectionately called her "GG Mommy". The family wants to thank special friend, Lee Childers, for all of the love and care she gave to Floride during the past two years. The family will gather for a private service at the Young Family Cemetery in Clinton, TN.
