COGBURN, RUTH SPURGEON - of Knoxville, native of Cosby, Tennessee, beloved mother, cousin and friend, returned to the Heavenly Father on December 26, 2007. Ruth was born September 25, 1934, to the late Harrison and Flora Jenkins Spurgeon. She was member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church and 1952 graduate of Cocke County High School. The lives that Ruth touched were greatly enhanced by her love of life which was contagious. She was loved by all who knew her, because of her ability to love and to enjoy life which she demonstrated with her frequent laughter. She was also preceded by her husband, H. A. Cogburn; son, Timmy Cogburn; brothers, Charles and Bill Spurgeon. Ruth is survived by her son, Michael and his wife Debbie; cousin, Patsy Bradford; lifelong friend, Rita Brown; all of her special friends at Colonial Park and her most special loving companion, Piper. The family wishes to thank the staff and administration of Caris Health Services for their kindness and support in her final weeks. Funeral service will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. Dr. Alan Smith officiating. Private interment will follow. The family will receive friends 12:30-1:30 P.M.
