Walkers observe 50th anniversary

Edward and Edith (Carnes) Walker, of Maryville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 29 at Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church, 7322 Old Tuckaleechee Road, Townsend. Family and friends are invited to attend.
They request no gifts.
The couple were married Dec. 28, 1957, at Bethel Baptist Church in Townsend. The Rev. Clyde Whitehead officiated.
Their family includes daughters Rozella Davis and husband Don, of Townsend, and Melanie Bowers and husband Scott, of Maryville. They have four grandchildren, Stephanie Riden and husband Keith, Leigha Buchanan, Drew and Max Bowers; two great-grandchildren, Sam and Gracie Riden; and step-grandson, Eddie Davis.
Mr. Walker taught school in Blount and Knox counties, retiring from the Knox County School System. He is a volunteer at Blount Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Walker is retired from First Tennessee Bank (formerly Bank of Maryville) and also served as office and financial director of Haven House Inc. They also served in the music ministry of several Baptist churches in Maryville and Knoxville.
They currently serve as music director and organist at Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church, Townsend.
