Douglas Black seeks CLB post NEWPORT-Douglas "Doug" Black of Newport, a lifelong resident of Cocke County, is seeking a seat on the CLB. Black announced today he is running for District IV, Post I. This post includes the precincts of Edgemont, Cocke County High School, and the Armory. The son of the late Isaac and Nina Black, he attended Grassy Fork Elementary and Cosby High Schools and later graduated from Cocke County Adult High School. He and his wife, the former Cheryl Holt, have three sons: Christopher, Steven, and Michael. A carpenter by profession, he works for Newport Tile and Hardwood. The Black family attends Grace Baptist Church where they work with the youth program. In his spare time, Black enjoys woodworking and collection old tools, especially those associated with the carpentry profession. If elected, Black said he hopes to "see things turn around, especially where jobs are concerned in our community. I'd like to see our government run more efficiently."
