Brenda Gail Smith, daughter of William W. Smith and Mayme L. Smith, of Knoxville, is engaged to marry Jeffrey Lee Grindstaff, son of Robert L. Grindstaff and Gerry Louise Grindstaff, of Maryville, at 4 p.m. Dec. 29 at West Miller’s Cove in Walland. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
The future bride is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard Harmon.
The future bridegroom is the grandson of Minnie Grindstaff, of Maryville, the late Ben Grindstaff, Louise Rainwater, of Maryville, and the late H.P. Rainwater.
The bride-to-be received an Associate of Applied Science degree from Roane State Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Belmont College, Nashville, and a Master of Science degree from East Tennessee State University. She is employed as a physical therapist at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville.
The bridegroom-to-be is a graduate of Pellissippi State Technical Community College and ITT Technical Institute. He is employed as an engineer at Polymore Circuit Technologies in Maryville.

Robert and Gerry Grindstaff celebrate 50th
Robert and Gerry Grindstaff recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple were married Nov. 24, 1961, at Forest Hill Baptist Church. The late Rev. Roy Tipton officiated.
Their family includes children Jeff and wife Brenda Grindstaff, of Maryville, and Jennifer and husband Rom Everett, of Maryville. They have one grandson, Elijah Everett, who is 12 years old.
Mr. Grindstaff is retired from ALCOA Inc.

Brenda Gail Smith, of Knoxville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, of Knoxville, was united in marriage with Jeffrey Lee Grindstaff, of Maryville, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Grindstaff, of Maryville, Dec. 29, 2007, at Millers Cove Primitive Baptist Church. The Rev. Doug Banister officiated.
Megan Arant and Emily Arant, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., were bridesmaids. Amanda Arant was flower girl.
Darren Stinnett, Scott Woods, Kyle Anderson and Frankie Anderson, all of Maryville, were groomsmen.
A reception was held at Sampson's Hollow
After a wedding trip to Western North Carolina, the couple are living in Maryville.
The bride is a graduate of Belmont College, Roane State Community College and East Tennessee State University. She is employed at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center as a physical therapist.
