(August 9, 1956 - August 13, 2009) David Paul Dykes, age 53, of Alcoa, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lela Dykes; brothers, Bobby and Jack Dyke; sisters, Jenny and Joan Dykes; and step daughter, Beth Swiney. Survivors include his brothers and sisters in law, Lewis and Carmey Dyke of Maryville, Ray and Virginia Dyke of Greenback, Blain and Betty Dykes of Alcoa, Billy and Denise Dyke of Decatur, and Jimmy and Karen Dykes of Maryville; sisters and brothers in law, Violet and David Ledger of Knoxville, Essie and Bill Word of Florida, and Kathy and Donald Matoy of Englewood; girlfriend, Linda Young; step son, John Douglas and grand-daughter, Kayla Swiney; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel, Rev. Donald Matoy and Rev. Lonnie Swiney officiating. Family and friends will meet 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Ellejoy Cemetery for the graveside service and interment.
