She was preceded in death by her husband, George Messer; son, Oaklan Messer; parents, Elbert Wyatt and Morning Mooneyham Graves; sisters, Mary Jane Holt, Della Haney, Helen Pullum, and Becky Wyatt; brother, the Rev. John Wyatt; and two step-daughters, Algie Darnell and Lois Duvall. She is survived by her children, Christine Ramsey, D.J. Messer, and Joesephine Messer, of Newport; Sylvia Gregory, Paige Messer, and Trux and Rachael Messer, of Del Rio; sister, Dorie Shetley and Magdoline Martin, of Hot Springs, N.C.; brother, Charlie Wyatt, of Franklin, N.C.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, December 22, 2007, at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 23, 2007, at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Ball officiating. Internment will be in Union Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
