Glennita Hale, age 51, of Newport, passed away, Friday, December 14, 2007. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Fox; mother, Nell Fox; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Minnie Hale. She is survived by her husband, Tommy Hale of Newport; brother, Steve Fox of Kodak; half sisters, Shama Caughhorn of Morristown, Peggy Moss of Dandridge. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 18, 2007 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Joe Cureton and Rev. Rocky Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Ball Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday, December 17, 2007 at Manes Funeral Home.

Woman dies in fatal crash
(c)2007 NPT PHOTO BY DAVID POPIEL One person died in this one-vehicle accident behind Blackwell's Tax Service in Newport this morning. The identity of the victim wasn't know at presstime.
NEWPORT-A woman was killed in a vehicle accident discovered this morning by Susan Blackwell of Blackwell's Tax Service.
Blackwell reportedly discovered the vehicle on its top at the rear of her property around 10 a.m. Units from Newport Police Department, Newport Rescue Squad and Allied EMS responded to the scene.
Police officers believe the driver was traveling on Jefferson Avenue and failed to stop at Riverview Street, crossed both lanes and went off a steep embankment. The vehicle landed on its top, with the rear of the car facing Broadway-about 100 yards from Broadway.
The female victim, whose identity wasn't available at presstime, was reportedly dead when extricated from the vehicle by Newport Rescue Squad. More details will be provided in Sunday's edition of the Plain Talk.

Little more than identity known for crash victim

NEWPORT-A woman found dead in an automobile accident behind Blackwell's Tax Service Friday has been identified as Glennita Hale, 51, 120 Sycamore Way, Newport. According to a uniform traffic crash report compiled by Patrolman Scott Lamb, police responded to a one-car accident off an embankment below Riverview Street. Hale was reportedly traveling north on Jefferson Avenue in her green 1998 Buick Skylark when it crossed Riverview Street, traveled approximately 93-feet down an embankment, collided with the ground and overturned. Newport Police, Newport Rescue Squad and Allied E.M.S. were notified of the wreck around 10 a.m. after Susan Blackwell of Blackwell's Tax Service discovered the vehicle. The conditions surrounding the accident are uncertain at this point however; it is believed the accident may have taken place Thursday night. Some reports indicate the vehicles engine was cool upon the arrival of emergency crews. According to the crash report, no alcohol or drugs were found at the scene.
