Betty Ruth Smith age 71 of Newport passed away Thursday September 7, 2006 at U.T Medical Center, Knoxville. She was a member of Joseph Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Arms, daughter Kathy Sue Smith Gregg, son Terry Russell Smith. She is survived by her sons Larry Ruble Smith and wife Gwen of Morristown, Roger Lynn Smith of Talbot, Jerry Lee Smith of Madisonville, Boxer Woods Smith of Parrottsville, James Lewis Smith of Newport, daughter Sharon Anita Smith of Parrottsville, brothers Oscar Arms and wife Ruth of Bybee, Wayne Arms of Morristown, Jerry Arms of Bybee, Robert Arms and wife Phyllis of Mooresburg, Henry Arms Jr., and wife Maria of Morristown, sister Dorothy Andes of Bybee, 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many other special friends. Funeral services 8 p.m. Saturday September 9, 2006 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Hollifield officiating . Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday September 10, 2006 in Joseph Chapel Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Joseph Chapel Church.
