U.S. Veteran George Calvin Boring, age 62, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Blount Memorial Hospital. George was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He served in the 228th of the 1st Calvary Division USARV during the Vietnam War from November 4, 1969 until November 7, 1970. George owned and worked at Arrow Graphics Custom Screen Printing, and had over 40 years of screen printing experience. He was a member of New Providence Primitive Baptist Church. George was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie Calvin and his beloved mother, Florence Amelia Crisp Boring; brothers, Walter Lee, Clyde Andrew, Charles Thomas, James T. and William Robert; and sister, Evelyn Boring Snavely. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Perry) Trentham of Maryville; brother, Herman Boring of Maryville; sisters, Pearl (Bob) Hampton of Greenback, Polly (Roy) Wilson of Maryville, Irene (Howard) Fox of Sevierville, Ann (Jack) Wilson of Maryville, and Dean Cooper of Maryville; sister-in-law, Mary Martha Boring of Maryville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; all his family at Arrow Graphics; special family friends, the James W. Hunt family, and the Steve McKenzie family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shriners Children Hospital, Office of Development, Shriners Hospitals for Children®, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607, in George’s memory. His life revolved around his business, and he loved dirt racing. He lettered many race cars and printed many t-shirts for drivers and pit crews. He traveled to many dirt tracks in East Tennessee to watch his favorite sport. He was inducted in to the Mountain Raceway Park Hall of Fame in 2009 for his work and dedication to the local dirt racing sport. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ER at Blount Memorial Hospital, Dr. Dabbagh, Dr. Gaddis, and the CCU staff at Blount Memorial Hospital for their hard work and dedication, during our time of need. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2011 at Miller Funeral Home, Magnolia Chapel. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Ricky Boring and Rev. Steve McKenzie officiating.
