HARRELL, MELVIN S. - passed away at his home on Timberhill Drive, Monday, April 30, 2001, after an extended battle with Parkinsons disease. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lillian B. Harrell; son, Greg Harrell; daughter-in-law, Janis Harrell; grandsons, Stephen and Andrew Harrell; and brother, Gene D. Harrell of Knoxville, Tenn. Mr. Harrell was retired from Southern Bell / Bell South after 45 years of service. He was a member of Crievewood Baptist Church. Mr. Harrell had extended memberships in Al Menah Temple, York and Scottish Rites, and was a Master Mason greeted May 6, 1943. He was an avid private pilot, long-term Ham Radio Operator, W4FQK, and a Telephone Pioneer. Mr. Harrell is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ethel and Sam Harrell of Knoxville. Visitation will be at Woodlawn Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6-9 and services will be conducted by Dr. Martha Minardi at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cross Mausoleum. Pallbearers will include Bob Arrants, Raymond Hufft, Dr. Dan Ward, Bill Ridley and Sararat Potyhisathern.
