HARRELL, GENE DORSEY - age 76 of Powell, died May 8, 2004 at Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with Parkinson Disease. He was of the Baptist faith and former charter member and trustee of Trinity Baptist Temple of Fountain City. He was a member of Masters Lodge #244 F&AM for over 50 years, member and past patron of Knoxville #69 OES, the Knoxville York Rite, 32nd Degree Mason with Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies, past member of Kerbela Oriental Band, and member of Smoky Mountain #2698 Order of the Eagles. He was retired from Union Carbide Oak Ridge National Lab after 30 years of service. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. and Ethel Parks Harrell and brother, Melvin S. Harrell. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Ruth Moyers Harrell of Powell sister-in-law, Lillian B. Harrell nephew, Greg Harrell both of Nashville. Masonic service 6:30 P.M. Monday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel by Masters Lodge #244 F&AM followed by the funeral service with Rev. Kent Williams and Rev. Jerry L. Wolfenbarger officiating. Family and friends will meet at the W. Adair entrance to Lynnhurst Cemetery Tuesday for an 11:00 A.M. interment service with military honors presented by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 5:00-6:30 P.M. Monday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
