McCONKEY, CHARLES "HOMER" - age 80 of Sweetwater, Tenn. passed away Friday, February 9, 2001 at Sweetwater Hospital. He was a member of Rockview Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Jessie McDaniel McConkey; brothers, Earl, Lloyd, and Joe McConkey; sister, Lucille Gray. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army. Survivors include: wife of 27 years, Minnie Robinson McConkey, of Sweetwater; daughter and son in law, Jean and Bill Graham, of Evergreen, Colo.; granddaughters, Kim Smith of Pine, Colo., Donna Graham, of Evergreen, Colo.; great grandchildren, Amber and Jennifer Smith and Steven Graham; brother, L.C. McConkey, of Sweetwater; several nieces & nephews. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in Kyker's Chapel with Rev. Mike Best, Rev. Charles Cassady and Rev. Lewis Webb officiating. Interment 2 p.m. Monday in the Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park, with full military honors provided by the Sweetwater V.F.W. Post 5156. www.legacy.com
