McCONKEY, L.C. - age 80, of Sweetwater, passed away on Thursday September 23, 2004, at Sweetwater Hospital after a lengthily illness. He was a member and deacon of New Bethany Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. Retired from Chrysler Corp. Preceded in death by: his parents: John and Jessie McConkey brothers, Earl, Joe, Lloyd, and Homer McConkey sister, Lucile Gray. Survivors include: sister, Mary Rhodes of Sweetwater sisters-in-law, Erma McConkey of Knoxville, Minnie McConkey of Sweetwater caregivers, Mattie and Lynn Robinson of Niota several other nieces and nephews. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 7:00p.m. in Kyker's Chapel with Rev. Clinton Riddle and Rev. Jarod Johnson officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00a.m. on Saturday at Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park for the interment.
