DAVIES, EDWARD E. - age 96, passed away peacefully at home on August 25, 2000. Mr. Davies, fondly known and loved as "Grandad", attended Rocky Hill Baptist Church. He retired in 1968 from the Fulton Sylphon Company after 39 years of service. In those years, he rose from a Helper in the Redraw Press Department to Service Department Foreman, the position he proudly held at his retirement. Edward came to Fulton in the middle of the Depression in 1929, and served as a Lab Assistant, Press Operator, Annealer, Clerk & Dispatcher. During World War II, he became the Assistant Foreman in the Press Department until his promotion to Service Department Foreman. After his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, and was anavid Wrestling fan, Son of the late James and Jessie Lee Davies, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ava Strickland Davies; son, Edward E. (Buddy) Davies, Jr.; brothers, Lloyd Davies, William Davies; sister, Virginia Ogg; grandchildren, Eddie Davies, Patti Davies and son in law, Ted Frye, Sr. Those he leaves behind to cherish his love, wisdom and guidance are his wife, Mamie Hudson Davies; daughter, Jessie D. Frye; daughter and son in law, June and John Melton; sisters, Helen Davies and Annette Davies, all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Ted Frye of Knoxville, Bill Davies of Texas, Tracy Frye Mowery and Lisa Frye of Knoxville, Jason Martinez of Texas, Teresa Davies, Paul Davies, Buddy Davies, Janet Bright and Diane Norris of Knoxville. Also survived by several great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his special little dog, Rex. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. Ronald Russell officiating. Family and friends willmeet Tuesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. for an 11 a.m. interment service. We will miss you, Grandad, and will always remember your "Rules to Live By." Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your wonderful journey through life. We were blessed by your loving heart and kind soul. Rest in peace. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
