TOWE, RICHARD L., SR. - age 75, passed away after a long bout with cancer on Saturday, March 22, 2008. he was an iron worker in the family business for 40 years at Towe Iron Works until bad health caused his retirement in 1988. Preceded in death by his father and mother, Lawrence, Sr. and Margaret Towe, brother and wife, Lawrence, Jr. and Willayne Towe, two grandsons, Danny Joe Lewis and Joshua Towe, brothers in law, Charles Cox and Jack Thwaites. He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Jewel Towe; sons, Richard, Jr. and Angie Towe and Stephen and Donna Towe; daughters, Deborah and Gary Ballard, Patricia Summers and Teresa Jones; grandchildren, Gary Ballard, Kristi Kerr, Brandon Lewis, Heather Walker, Bryan Jones, Taygan Towe, Brittany Jones, Tucker Towe, Trevor Towe; six great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. A special thanks to Smoky Mountain Health and Hospice. A very special thanks to his nurse, Tuan Fine, preacher, Mike Sledge and Dr. Hill. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25th at Weaver's Chapel with the service to follow at 8 p.m. Family and friends will meet at Weaver's at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to proceed to Highland Memorial Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service.
