Joseph Albert Shamblin, age 79, of Maryville, passed away Sunday morning, November 18, 2007 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce having served during the Korean Conflict, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the New Providence Lodge # 128 F & AM, and a Baptist Minister that had pastured many churches in Blount County. Preceded in death by his parents, Sylvan and Edith Atchley Shamblin; son, Dennis Lee Shamblin; brothers, Hobart Shamblin and Gerald Shamblin; and sister, Rosalee Hancock. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lewis Shamblin; son, Danny Shamblin and Peggy of Maryville; daughter and son in law, Cindy and Roger Starrett of Louisville; grandchildren, Leshia, Kellyn, and Imbri; great grandchild, Kim; sister-in-law, Gladys Shamblin of Pinehurst, N.C.and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Glenn Grubb officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery for a Masonic graveside service, conducted by New Providence Lodge # 128 F & AM.
