Mr. Marcus Ray Ellenburg, 77, Mosheim, died on Sunday, July 6, 2008, at his residence. A native of Parrottsville, TN, he was a son of the late Sidney & Vertia Ottinger Ellenburg. Mr. Ellenburg honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Greene County in 1973. His was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church, Parrottsville. Mr. Ellenburg worked as a farmer and a carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Annette Blazer Ellenburg, Mosheim; five daughters, Vickie (Donnie) Belcher, Newport; Mary (Mike) Hankins, Afton, Susan Alexander, Chuckey, Judy (Mike) Pearson, Maryville, and Marcia (Tommy) Hopson, Johnson City; a son, Sidney (Kellie) Ellenburg, Mosheim; a sister, Blanche Sauls, Greeneville; a brother, J. D. (Norma) Ellenburg, Homestead, FL; a sister-in-law, Ollie Ellenburg, Marietta, GA; 14 grandchildren, Chuck (Janice) Shropshire; Torie Belcher; Terri Honeycutt; Caleb and Makenzie Ellenburg; Josh (Sherina) Jones; Rachel Jones; Chris and Nic Alexander; Micah, Rebekah and John Michael Pearson, and Abbie and Andrew Hopson; five great-grandchildren, Chanse, Mady, and Emily Shropshire, Cody Solomon and Sarah Honeycutt; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellenburg was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ellenburg and Louise Mason, and two brothers, Paul and Fred Ellenburg. A Celebration of Life service for Marcus Ray Ellenburg will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 10, at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Sterling Nelson officiating. His family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour. Mr. Ellenburg's family honored his request to donate his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at James H. Quillen College of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorials are given to the American Diabetes Association, 211 Center Park Drive, Ste. 3010, Knoxville, TN 37922, and the National Kidney Foundation, 4450 Walker Blvd., Ste. 2, Knoxville, TN 37917.
