Donald E. Spangler, age 82, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Don was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City where he was active with the Senior Adults and the Jim Springer Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. Don was a member of Beaver Ridge Masonic Lodge # 366 F&AM and the Scottish Rite. He retired from Oak Ridge National Lab in 1986 after 39 years of service. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Martha W. Spangler; his parents, Archie D. and Ollie Spangler; his brother, Robert Spangler and his sister, Katherine Laugherty. He is survived by four children: son, Don Spangler of Lenoir City, daughter, Brenda Rhea of Chattanooga, daughter, Patricia Redding and husband, Charles of Knoxville, daughter, Sally Belin and husband, Al of Knoxville; two stepchildren, Bill Webb and wife, Sharon of Texas, stepdaughter, Susan Moore and husband, Steve of Knoxville; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law, Paul R. and Lucy Spangler of Middlesboro, KY, Betty Spangler of Knoxville; special nephews Rick Laugherty along with several other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick DeMerchant officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lakeview Cemetery with full military honors being conferred by the Loudon County Veteran's Honor Guard. The family request memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 2085 Simpson Road East, Lenoir City, TN 37772.
