Wilhite, Kenneth Wayne age 74 of Strawberry Plains went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2007. He was a faithful member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. He retired from ASARCO Mines after 37 years. He was a person always ready to help anyone in need and well known in the Carter Community. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a 32nd degree mason and a member of Strawberry Plains Lodge #462 F & AM and the Scottish Rite. Preceded in death by parents, Liston and Jenny Wilhite; grandson, Matthew Clark; brothers, Jim, Ernest and Herman Wilhite; sisters, Alma Waddell and Marie Willard. Survivors: loving wife of 52 years Freda Perry Wilhite; daughters and sons in law Sherry and Eddie McGill of Knoxville, Tammy and Doug Clark of Decatur, AL; grandchildren, “99” and Shasta McGill, Courtney, Chelsea and Mitchell Clark; brothers, Lloyd Wilhite and wife Lorrine, Guy Wilhite and wife Virginia and George Wilhite; sister, MaryNell Hancock and husband Floyd; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives; special friend, James (Boney) Shelton. A Masonic Memorial Service will held at 7:00 P.M.Monday in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home conducted by Strawberry Plains Lodge #462 F & AM with the Funeral Service to follow with Rev. Steve Evans and Rev. James McCann officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 A.M. Tuesday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for the interment at 10 A.M. with Military Honors provided by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Kings Men Sunday School Class. Special thanks to Dr. Raymond Porter and his nurse Shannon for their care and support. The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M.
