Preceded in death by: Wife, Alice Whitehead ; Parents, Walter & Florence Whitehead ; Grandson, Douglas Alan Hicks; Brothers, Harvey, Rev. Lewis, and Bea C. Whitehead ; 2 Infant Sisters; Sisters, Mina Self, Mollie Buchanan, Lona Gardner. Survivors include: Son and Daughter-in-law, Howard Jr. and Norma Whitehead of Maryville; Daughter and Son-in-law, Una V. & Rufus Hicks of Maryville; Grandchildren, Mike & Tim Hicks and Karen Ledbetter; 6 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; several nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral service will be at 8:00 PM, Saturday, January 24, 2004, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Ronnie Blair and Rev. Ronnie Crisp officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 2:30 PM, Sunday, January 25, 2004, at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment.
