Ila Whitehead, age 93, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Whitehead was a member of the Centenary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey L. Whitehead, parents, Albert and Tena Hearon; great-grandson, Gary Lindsey; and son-in-law, Coy Swaney. She is survived by her daughters, Lorene Hill and husband, Don, Martha Baldwin and husband, John, Sue Patty and husband, Bill, and Alma Lindsey of Townsend; brothers, Marlow, Ervin, and Sterling Hearon; grandchildren, Carl and Stanley Swaney; Lynn and Ed Lindsey, Debbie Cochran, Kim Shands, Alvin and Terry Baldwin, and Sean Patty; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and friends, Lynn and Phyllis Willocks, Mary and Bill Dixon, UnaV and R.L. Hicks, Grady Lindsey, Bea Williams, and Bobbie Mayfield. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the home care-givers, Debbie Cochran, Mary Frank, Blount Memorial Home Health, and Dr. Richard Savell MD and Staff. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Miller Funeral Home, Magnolia Chapel, with Rev. Bill Dixon and Rev. Scott Linginfelter officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 AM Friday at Centenary Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment service.
