Lois Victoria Evans Carter, 87, of Morristown, formerly of Newport, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at The Heritage Center of Morristown. She went to meet her family who went before her. Her parents, Zeke and Elsie Henry Evans; beloved husband, Neal Carter; first husband, Bill Williamson; three sisters, Mildred Barnette, Dorothy Webb Rogers, and Alice Lane. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Lou Thomason and husband, Dave, of Elgin, S.C., and Jean King, of Morristown; seven grandchildren, Mickey Clark, Barbie Williams and Michelle Smith, of Morristown; Wendy Clark Sherles, of Bulls Gap; Melissa Post, of Clermont, Fla.; Lisa Edwards and Vicki Jones, of Elgin, S.C.; three sisters, Elizabeth Bible, of Morristown; Pearl Hodge, of Lakeland, Fla.; and Lorene Gregg, of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Henry Evans, of Ala., and Charles Evans, of Newport. A very special niece, Frances Williams; special friends, Robert and Mary Ann Trent; eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several beloved nieces, nephews, and many friends at Heritage Center. We would like to thank all the nurses, CNAs, housekeeping, laundry, and especially the wonderful ladies in the dining room that took such good care of our mother. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home with the Rev. T.H. Ferrell officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:50 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, in Hamblen Memory Gardens for a 1 p.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements by Stubblefield Funeral Home.
