Valerie Lynn Chance died Sept. 30, 2007, after a long difficult struggle with Bipolar Disease. She was a kind and caring person and had many friends in the Frederick, Maryland area. She is survived by her 8-year-old son, Nicholas Chance; father, James Creswell; step-mother, Karen Creswell; sister, Cheryl Morrow; and two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Gibson Miles and maternal grandparents Doyle L. and Dee Gibson.
She attended High School at Seneca Valley High School, Montgomery County, Md. and worked part time and attended Hood College in Frederick, Md.
She had worked for the Bureau of National Affairs in Gaithersburg, Md. and Galaxy Communications in Frederick, Md. She subsequently was a homemaker. Her marriage to Wade Chance ended in divorce.
A memorial service is 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St., Frederick, Md. Inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge on Sunday Oct. 7, 2007.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a fund for Nicholas to be used for educational purposes. Please mail such donations, clearly marked for the educational fund, to Karen Creswell, 12 Mountain Dew Lane, Harpers Ferry, WV, 25425.
