FRENCH, ALICE EVELINE - age 87, passed away after lengthy illness Thursday, September 27, 2007 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Knoxville February 28, 1920. She worked in textiles, but most of her life's work was spent in child care. She was known as "Mam-Maw" to many neighborhood children and kept the nursery at church. The three most important things in her life were family, friends and the church. We celebrate the love she brought to this world and know without doubt that heaven has another angel. Preceded in death by: parents, Chandler and Katie Thomas; son, Rhoton Chandler French; husband, Elbert French; sons-in-law, Glen Breeden and Ernest Berry; grandson, Chandler Cole French. Survivors include: sister, Linda Pratt and husband Wayne (Knoxville); daughters, Jewel Breeden (Sevierville), Kathleen Cole and husband Aubrey (Rockwood), Wilma Helton and husband Hubert (Strawberry Plains); 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was a 32 year member of Rockwood United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends Saturday, September 29 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Keith Knight officiating. Interment will be Sunday, September 30 at 2:00 pm in the Bookwalter Cemetery of Knoxville.
