MIZE, MARTHA JANE PICKENS - age 90 of Knoxville, passed away 9:30 p.m., Friday, September 21, 2007 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Mrs. Mize was born on September 15, 1917 in Sevier County, Tennessee. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church, and a long time member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church. She was a retired beautician with many special friends in the Lincoln Park area. Preceded in death by husband: Louis Walker Mize; parents, Sam and Christine Cusick Pickens; step-son, Robert Mize; sisters, Beulah Barbee, Mary Pickens and Johnnie Johnson; brothers, James and Sam Pickens. Survivors: sons, David Mize, Lexington, KY, Fred Mize, Knoxville; granddaughter, Heather Mize; step-daughter-in-law, Barbara Mize, Valdosta Georgia; special step-granddaughter, Mari Sanders; 3 other step children and several step-grandchildren; sisters, Rachel Pickle, Seymour, Cusick Clow, Clear Water Beach, FL and Seymour, TN; brother-in-law, Ben Barbee; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet on Monday at 9:45 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery for a 10:00 a.m. graveside service and interment. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Alzheimer's Association, 2200 Sutherland Avenue, Suite H102, Knoxville, TN 37919. Arrangements by Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Ave at North Broadway.
