Fred William Pace, age 67, of Newport went to be with his Lord and Savior September 5, 2013 surrounded by his wife and children after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He retired from Sonoco Products after 46 years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Bertha Pace; Bruce and Gladys Holt; parents John and Launa Pace; brother Jim Pace; nephew Jimmy Pace and sister-in-law Mary Sutton. He is survived by his wife Peggy Pace; daughters Crystal Pace; Wendee (Joe) Owensby both of Spartanburg, SC; sister-in-law Lucille Pace; brother-in-laws Ralph Adams, Raymond (Lois) Adams of Newport and Roger (Peri) Adams of Columbia, TN; niece Le Ann Holt and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special Thanks to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, nurses Lauren Kroening, Melanie Vassar, Charlie Grooms and Chaplain Glen Bradley, neighbors Jack and Judy Harrison, Sue Tate, Glenda Smith, Marie Wood, Rev. James Suggs and brothers Ralph and Raymond Adams. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 pm Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Suggs officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 8, 2013 in Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday prior to the funeral service.
