(September 18, 1930 - April 4, 2014) On April 4, 2014 Lon Ball passed away suddenly with a massive heart attack at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Algia Ball, brother Euruis Ball and sisters Edith Payne and Bonnie Allen. Lon is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Erdine Ball of the home, his son Connie Ball and wife Marsha, granddaughter Amy Ball, grandson C. J. Ball and wife Tiffany, great-granddaughter Taelyr Ball, sister Dean Smith and husband Frank, nephew Ronnie Dyke, niece Brenda Layman and husband Jim, and special sister in law Mary Lou Epperson and husband Ralph; sister in law Jean Henderson; brother in law Furman Woody and wife Mary Ester also several other nieces and nephews. Lon will be missed by a host of family and friends. Lon will be remembered by many people of his active life of 83 years. He retired from the work force at the age of 82 years old. Lon was an active member of the Newport Church of Christ. He was a Christian man of high morals and values. He loved life with his wonderful sense of humor. Lon loved to work in his yard and garden daily. He was a man of many talents and could do anything. He will be sadly missed so much by his wife, son, daughter- in- law and grandchildren. A special Thank You to the E R staff, doctors, nurses etc. at the Newport Medical Center for their hard work that they did and for the compassion they showed the family during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held 7 p m Monday, April 7, 2014 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Tommy Golman and Minister John Daniels officiating. Burial will be 11 am Tuesday April 8, 2014 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday prior to the services at Manes Funeral Home.
