COLLINS, BILLY RAY - age 62, formerly of Rutledge, passed away September 1, 2007 at his home in Summersville, West Virginia, surrounded by his family after a remarkably long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Washburn, Tennessee, October 16, 1944, the son of Effie Profitt Collins and the late Rev. Elbert Collins. He was an explosives supervisor for Nelson Brothers in Cabin Creek, and attended the Summersville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by: one brother, Raymond and one sister, Mary Ellis. Survivors, besides his mother, include: his wife, Ella Faye Johnson Collins of Summersville W. VA; 3 daughters, Sherry Loase and Donna Swallie, both of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Melissa (Scott) Garber of Delmar, Delaware; 2 grandchildren, Brandon and Tiffany Swallie; 3 sisters, Mildred (Andrew) Hickey, Thelma (Bill) Jones, both of Rutledge and Helen Ramsey of Talbott, TN. Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home in Rutledge with Rev. Steven Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. in the Collins Family Cemetery in Washburn. Members of the family will act as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Smith Funeral Home of Rutledge in charge of arrangements.
