Ronald G. Owens, age 74, of South Knoxville, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the US Army. He was an avid horseman. He often joked by saying, "I've rode from Slippery Rock to Eagle Pass." Ronald was a silent philanthropist with a kind giving spirit. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed making a living in Real Estate for over forty years. He was predeceased by his mother, Opal Owens and beloved Granny Emma Owens. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Marie B. Owens; children: Ron Owens, Jr. and Teresa; Randall and wife, Erica Owens; Stacy and husband, Mitch Grimm; grandchildren: Zak Owens, Will and Beth Etherton; Conner and Elana Owens; Dordy Russell; Cole, Cade, and Cale Grimm; father, AJ Owens, Jr.; sisters, Sandra Davenport and husband, Stanley; Barbara Pickens and husband, Robert; brother, Glenn and wife Barbara Owens; special chosen daughter, Mary Jo Goddard; and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meridian Baptist Church, 6513 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Meridian Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet at Meridian Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday at 11:00 AM for the interment. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway.
