ATKINS, ONIE MAE - went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on March 3, 1936 in Bean Station. She has been a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church for 23 years. She is preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Atkins and her mother Lassie Phillips. She is survived by her husband Robert Atkins; sister Linda Holloway. Also survived by her children: son, Ed Atkins & wife Jean; daughter Nellie (Dot) King; daughter Jackie Fuller & husband Bruce; son Wayne Atkins & wife Sandy; daughter Merlyn Ogle & husband Pete; son Jeffery Atkins & wife Sondra. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by her family and many friends. Pallbearers will be David, Mark, Greg, Jeffery, Robert, Freddie and Keith. The family will receive friends Friday, August 10, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be at 12:00 noon, Saturday August 11, 2007 at Walnut Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Smartt will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Caledonia Cemetery. Mrs. Atkins will be at the church one hour before the service for friends and family to view.
