Mrs. Betty Lorette Houston Smith, 84, of Sevierville, TN, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at her home.
Mrs. Smith was born was born May 7, 1926, in Troup County, GA, daughter of the late Pete and Annie Lou McWaters Houston. A former resident of Hogansville, GA, she was employed as a lab technician at Uniroyal, Inc. and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She had lived in the Sevierville area since 1982, where she was a member of Boyd’s Creek Baptist Church. Betty loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and prayed continually each and every day. She had a passionate love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they will forever have for her.
Survivors include her daughter, Dixie Smith of Sevierville, TN; sons and daughter in-law, Charlie Smith of Pigeon Forge, TN and Jim and Jennifer Smith of Sevierville, TN; daughter in-law, Sherry Smith of Sevierville, TN; grandchildren, Charlie Bob Smith, Will Smith, Pete Smith, Kellie Ann Douglass, Kristi Smith Stott, Duncan Smith, LouAnna Smith, and Georgia Smith; great-grandchildren, Mason Stott, Cooper Douglass, Harrison Smith, Maddox Stott, Ella Grace Smith, McCoy Linn Smith, and Dixie Grace Douglass; and her loyal and loving caregiver of five years, Cathy McCullers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. (Bill) Smith; her son, Dr. William A. (Billy) Smith, Jr.; and her twin sister, Freddy Houston Kirkland.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 19, at Boyds Creek Baptist Church in Sevierville, TN. A graveside service is being conducted Friday at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, GA.
