He was a member of Kagley's Chapel Baptist Church and had previously served as music director and Sunday School and Training Union Teacher for youth and young adults. He loved Southern Gospel music. He worked in the industrial fastener business for 30 years. A prior Blount County business owner of Cornette Fasteners, he was known to his customers and friends as "The Boltman."Preceded in death by daughter, Angela Cornette; father and mother, Luke & Geneva Cornette, formerly of Big Stone Gap, Va.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charlie & Susie Clabough; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James & Jean Clabough; nephew, Frank Clabough. He is survived by wife of 33 years, Helen Cornette; daughter, Amy Cornette; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlie & Ann Brickey, David & Sue Wright, Carl & Mary Clabough, Hurst Clabough, Eddie & Ola Abbott, Kenneth & Mary Johnson, Earl and Fern Clabough, Bobbie Teaster; uncle & aunt, Don & Wertie Gibson of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; aunt, Pearl Rhea of Clinton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sat., Feb. 19, 2000 in the West Chapel of SmithMortuary with Rev. Greg Long officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 3 p.m. Sun., Feb. 20, 2000 at Kagley's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment.
