Horner, Ruth Newman –age 92, a lifelong resident of Knoxville, moved to her eternal home in Heaven Wednesday, August 15, 2007. She was a member of South Knoxville Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school. Retired department manager with Sears and former owner of the Cynthia Kay Shop (jewelry and accessory store in the old Hamilton Bank building). Preceded in death by husband of 70 years, W.C. (Chick) Horner.
Survivors
Survivors include daughter, Cynthia Turner; sons, Gordon Reed Horner and Joe Horne and wife, Kay; grandchildren, Katrina Fox and husband, James, Wendell Horner, Herbert Horner and wife, Kelly, Jeff Turner and wife, Wendy, Greg Turner and Andy Turner; 11 great-grandchildren, Renee Lee and husband, Mitch, Daniel Horner, Samuel Horner and wife, Kim, Matthew Horner, Katie Horner, Haley Horner, Jeremy Turner, Justin Turner, Jayda Turner, Cali Turner and Jordan Turner; great-great-granddaughter, Anna Lee; brother, James Edmund Newman and wife, Marion.
Service
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM on Friday, August 17th in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 7:30 PM with Rev. Bob St. John and Rev. Gordon Alford officiating. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Saturday, August 18th, for 10:30 AM interment services with Rev. Jeff Spangler officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to South Knoxville Baptist Church, 522 Sevier Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920 or CBM Ministries of East Tennessee, P.O.
