Betty Aileen (Lee) Menzies, age 77, of Newport, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Mercy West in Knoxville. She was a daughter of the late S. A. and Zora Goodnough Lee. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Menzies; son, Tony Mitchell; granddaughter, Clarinda Damron; and brother, Kermit Lee. She is survived by her daughter, Tina (Dave) Wilson, of Sevierville; son Steve (Tammi) Mitchell, of Bluefield, West Virginia; grandchildren, Jared Mitchell, of Huntingdon, West Virginia, Mandy Mitchell, of Bluefield, West Virginia, Stephanie Nicole Damron, of Seymour and Rhonda Martinez, of Germany; five great grandchildren; sister, Helen Bush of Newport; brothers, Fred (Juanita) Lee, of Parrottsville; Robert (Sylvia) Lee, of Greenville, SC; stepsons, Patrick and Peter Menzies, of Colorado; two nieces; one nephew; and many friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 18, 2010 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Craig Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Manes Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Building Fund, 234 Lincoln Avenue, Newport, TN 37821.
