DUNCAN, ROY A. - age 86 of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011. He was a resident of Ben Atchley State Veterans Home. Roy was born in Knoxville on August 10, 1924, and was a graduate of Farragut High School and a member of Old Beverly Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Mae Duncan, parents, James Lawry Duncan and Elizabeth Guinn Duncan, brothers, Bill Duncan, Walter Duncan, Clifford Duncan, Clyde Duncan, sisters, Ella Stallings and Eula Burgen. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Gary and Robin Duncan, daughter and son-in-law Gail and Eddie DeBusk; grandchildren and spouse's of grandchildren, Kevin and Elizabeth DeBusk, Caleb and Andrea Duncan, Daniel and Elizabeth Duncan, Brent DeBusk, Preston DeBusk, Sarah and Blake Tarr, Luke and Hannah Duncan, Reuben Duncan, John Mark Duncan, Rachel Duncan, Anna Duncan, and James Lawry Duncan; great-grandchildren, Ethan DeBusk, Elijah DeBusk, Lyla Duncan, and Faith Duncan. Roy is survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Reverend Mike Hurst presiding. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. at Lynnhurst Cemetery on Friday, June 10, 2011, for a 10:00 a.m. interment service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Beverly Baptist Church, 4301 Greenway Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918 for their "Children's Ministry". As a special recognition and thank you, the family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Ben Atchley State Veterans Home for their compassion and exceptional care of Roy in his final days. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
