Claude B. Horner, age 84, of Jefferson City, TN and formerly of the Talbott community, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Mercy St. Marys Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a Veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired Talbott Rural Mail Carrier and beloved baseball, basketball, and softball coach. He was a fifty year Mason with Mossy Creek Lodge # 353 F & AM . He was a member and elder of Talbott Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Garrett Horner; son, Randy Horner; grandsons, Garrett Benton Horner, Jameson Bernard Horner and Jeffery Gann; parents, R.B. and Callie Horner; step-daughter, Sharon Ann Dunlap; and brother, Hampton Horner. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Horner; son, Alton (Ellen) Horner; daughter, Beth Horner; foster son, Jimmy (Judy) Rolen; grandchildren, Shawn Horner, Nathan Horner, Jon Horner, Laura Horner King, BJ Rolen and Mandi Rolen, Timothy Gann; step-daughters. Debbie Harris, Susan Goode, Donna Hicks, Jama Cruze, and Cindy Glasscock; ten other grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Grace Horner Kilbourne; brothers, Bernard Horner, Jr. and Bruce Horner; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Reid, Reverend Richard Snowden and Reverend Owen McCloud officiating. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will gather 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service with military honors. Family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the: Claude Horner Memorial Fund, C/O Talbott Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7410 West Andrew Johnson Highway, Talbott, TN 37877.
