MOTLEY, CARL C. - age 89 of Knoxville, TN, passed away July 13, 2006 at Shannondale Health Care Center. He was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church. He was a retired Electrical Engineer with TVA, a graduate of Auburn University, and served as a major in the Army during WW II. Carl Motley will be greatly missed by his family and friends on Earth as Jesus has welcomed him with open arms into Heaven. Always putting the other person first, Carl Motley sincerely and with joy lived his life as "his brother's keeper". It was once said that, " If you can't get along with Carl Motley, you can't get along with anyone". His wife Kathryn M. Motley, in which they were married in January of 1945, precedes him in death. Also by: mother, Florence Motley father, Carl A. Motley brother, Marvin Glenn Motley daughter-in-law, Deborah Motley and sister-in-law, Sara Munroe. He is survived by: daughter, Kathy M. Manis and her husband Keith of Seymour son, C. Allen Motley of Maryville grandchildren, Miranda Motley of Knoxville, Caroline Motley and Brittany Motley of Maryville great grandson, Ben Motley of Knoxville sister-in-law, Betty Wilson of Jasper, Alabama, brother-in-law, Clarence Munroe of Talladega, Alabama nieces, Susan Wilson of Jasper, Alabama and Monte Campbell of Wetumpka, Alabama nephews, Mark Wilson of Houston Texas, Marvin Motley of Montgomery, Alabama and John Motley of Mobile, Alabama. Appreciation is sent to the staff at Shannondale Health Care Center, and especially the 5th floor personnel who became as caring and trusted family members. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Church Street United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Church Street United Methodist Church with Sr. Pastor William J. Fowler and Special Needs Pastor Cabel W. Trent officiating. Family and friends will assemble following the funeral service Sunday, July 16, 2006 in Highland South Memorial Park for interment services.
