CARDWELL , MABLE BELLE - of Rutledge, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 14, 2003 at her residence. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Mable's Christian faith was her greatest source of inner strength and helped her triumph over many trials in her life. She always expressed and encouraged her children, family and others the honor and privilege in knowing Jesus Christ as a personal Savior and the importance of Power in Prayer. Preceded in death by her husband, Ora T. Cardwell parents, Samuel R. Hillard and Mary Caroline Hemphill Hillard granddaughters, Valena R. Viles and Alice Hillard two unborn children brothers, Robert, Johnny and Tommy Hillard sisters, Helen Warwick and Edith Martinez. Survived by her children and children she loved as her own, Joseph Hillard, Charlotte Riseden, JoeAnne Keith of Knoxville, Billie Viles of Mt. Jackson, VA, Ora, Jr. and Russell and Bobbie Strand of Rutledge, Don and Becky Cardwell of Soddy Daisy, Alla Mae and Sylvester Corley, Doyle and Kathleen Cardwell , Charles and Karen Cardwell of Anderson County, Opal and Ronald Bridges of Limestone, Clayton and Eileen Cardwell of Nashville and the late Lucy Lane 32 grandchildren 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson two special grandchildren, Sam and Monica Strand brothers, Jeff and wife, Alice Hillard, of Knoxville and Eugene and wife, Betty Hillard, of Knoxville sisters, Rose and husband, Joe Proietti, of Aiken, SC and Martha Jones of Knoxville sisters-in-law, Erma Lee, Frances and Linda Hillard of Knoxville other relatives and special friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton, with Celebration of Life Services following in the chapel, Rev. Anthony "Tony" Day officiating. Interment will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Cedar Grove Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society and to The Alzheimer's Association.
