DOWNEY, WILLIAM "BILL" - age 86 of Maryville went to be with the Lord, Friday morning, March 16, 2001 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church for 54 years. Retired from ALCOA after 40 years of service & member of the 25 Year Club. He was a 50 year member of the Mtn. View Masonic Lodge. Preceded in death by wife, Imogene Cannon Downey; son, Don Downey; parents, Cara & Laura Downey; sisters, Joann, Lilly, Mary, & Lizzie; brothers, Oscar, Monroe, & Onley. Survivors: daughter & son in law, Phyllis & Philip Forster; sons & daughters in law, Darryl & Vickie Downey, Wendell & Connie Downey, all of Maryville; daughter in law, Patricia Downey, Woodstock, Ga.; grandchildren, Ronnie & Stephanie Forster, Kathy & Mark Leitch, Wendee & Kevin Powers, Brian Downey, Christopher Downey, all of Maryville, Tim & Teresa Downey, Todd & Teresa Downey, all of Woodstock, Ga., Tami & Tim Kinnersly, Logansville, Ga., Traci & Robbie Towns, Kennesaw, Ga.; great grandchildren, Taylor & Ashley Downey, Dylan & Chelsea Downey, Blake Towns, Brandon Leitch, & Madison Powers; sister, Belle Chambers; sisters in law, Tootsie Sparks & Geneva Downey; brothers in law, Hubert Cannon & Fate Irwin; special friend, Mabel Fields; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday March 19, 2001, Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Alvin Patton, Rev. Buford Albright, Rev. Ben Ward officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenback Emergency & Rescue Squad, 6815 Morganton Road, Greenback, Tenn. 37742. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
