Sherry Sutton Jenkins age 53 of Cosby, went to be with Jesus May 26, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Jenkins and mother Reva Dean Ford Sutton.
She is survived by her son Jimmy Workman, son and daughter in law, Timmy and Kristal Workman, Limmy and Brooke Workman son, and fiance’ E.J. Jenkins and Sara Gregg all of Cosby, father and wife Doyle and Deloris Sutton of Mount Sterling, NC grandmother, Loma Garren of Newport, brother and sister in law Randy and Reba Sutton of Newport, Russell and Tanya Turner of Jefferson City nephew and wife Derrick and Hayley Sutton of Cosby, nephew Anthony Turner of Dandridge, grandchildren Tommy, Kaleb, Kayla and Hunter Workman and Paxton Coggins all of Cosby and Callie Miller of Virginia, special friends Reba Valentine, Bonnie Smith, Kris Hunt, Jackie Rogers, Virginia Harris, Krissy Fish, Kalijah Workman, Ronald and Zola Black.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Large, Rev. Robert Williamson and Rev. Jerry Raines officiating burial will be in McMillian Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00 till 8:00 p.m Sunday and Monday.

Jenkins cancer benefit Saturday

There will be a supper benefit and auction for the late Sherry Sutton Jenkins On Saturday, June 2, at the Newport National Guard Armory. The benefit dinner will be from 4 to 6 p.m. with an auction conducted by Luke Goddard to follow. Jenkins died on May 26. Jenkins was diagnosed on March 23, with stage 4 adeno-carcinoma lung cancer. "Please come out and help support Sherry and her family in this time of need. These donations are to help cover medical bills and bills associated with this devastating illness," said a spokesperson. Special music will be presented from 4 to 6 p.m. Bands include Mountain Edge, David Davis and Warrior River Boys, and Big Creek. Dinner includes ham, green beans, baked beans, potato salad, slaw, roll, dessert and drink. Hot dog plates will also be available. Carry-outs will be available, too. The cost of the dinner ticket is $6. Auction and raffles will include: multiple gift certificates from local supporting businesses, cabin rentals, local attraction tickets, jewelry, cakes, food items and certificates, tools, guns, quilts, and many other items to numerous to mention.
