(June 12, 1919 - August 2, 2009)
U.S. Veteran Samuel L. Henderson, age 90, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born June 12, 1919 in Pickens County, Alabama, a son of the late Samuel C. and Frances Gertrude Stephens Henderson. He retired in 1982 as a plant supervisor for Revere Copper and Brass. He was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church and the Monroe Masonic Lodge # 0189 F&AM in Woodsfield, Ohio. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He loved to play golf and work, and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his wife, Nina L. Cable Henderson; parents; and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Henderson (Bobby) Webb of Hopewell, Ohio; son, Jerry S. Henderson (Jill Lane) of New Concord, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Misti King of Zanesville, Ohio, Tamara Brennan of New Concord, Ohio, Sam (Anna) Henderson of Houston, Texas, and Laura Henderson of Washington D.C.; 3 great-grandchildren, Trey Welch, and Cade King both of Zanesville, Ohio, and Lindsey Brennan of New Concord, Ohio. Graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Grandview Cemetery, with Rev. Bob Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday and again from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville. (865) 982-6041 www.millerfuneralhome.org
